Our “Final Show ” opens today (until 20th June) and is looking gooood !

Here’s the press release to let you know what all the hard work has been about .

“FABricate – An exhibition showcasing innovative new designer-makers.

FABricate will showcase the work of fifteen jewellers who are the first class to graduate from Morley College’s new 2 year certificate course specifically designed to help emerging jewellers gain a wide range of technical and business skills with which to launch their careers. FABricate will be on display from the 5th to 20th June in the foyer exhibition space at Morley College.

Taught by world-class tutors Anastasia Young (year 1) and Helen Smith (year 2), and supported by a range of visiting tutors, the class of 2014 has already tasted remarkable critical and commercial success. Six of the students were shortlisted for the national ‘inspired by….’ competition organised by Morley College, the V&A and NIACE, winning both the jewellery prize and the NIACE award.

Students have also recently exhibited in Iceland and, closer to home, at the Dulwich Open Houses and at the Mary Ward Centre. They will also be exhibiting at the Jewellers on Tour show in Salisbury. One student has worked on a unique collaboration with the National Maritime Museum to produce a jewellery collection for its Guiding Lights exhibition. Class members have established a commercial presence at the Lower Marsh Market and are building a strong base of commissioned work.

FABricate will run from Thursday the 5th to Friday the 20th June in the Foyer Exhibition Space at Morley College, Westminster Bridge, London SE1 7HT. Many works are for sale.

Love of 3 orangesI hadn’t realised what a recurring theme the colour orange has been to me recently. Not quite obsessive but quite a presence …… my logo , the wall of my workshop, my laptop case and now theses rings . But who can resist an orange garnet ? Deep , beautiful and shiny orange…. I’ve named them ” The Love of Three Oranges ” after the Prokofiev opera or “L’amour des trois oranges ” which sounds lovely. Not that the opera is about jewellery….. you can see the rings in the FABricate exhibition which opens today at Morley College
