There is nothing like the joy of a gently singing saw- when it’s cutting through metal like butter and reverberating gently .  Fellow silversmiths know that feeling ….

This month two of my sculptor heroes Richard Serra http://www.gagosian.com/artists/richard-serra/ and Anthony Caro anthony caro early one morning passed on – lets hope to the great workshop in the sky. Their pure abstract forms inspire me to be bold , and keep that saw moving.

Went to the preview of Made in London http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/london-wall/whats-on/exhibitions-displays/made-london/ where the forms were far from abstract – a bijoux show of contemporary London jewellers , and their techniques using a mix of High Tech CAD and traditional craft. Jordan Askills Battle Cat Helmet a scupture in itself .

My highlight of the month – Hemmerle – for the joy of large and unusual stone setting – thank you for the privlege of seeing them in the flesh this week. http://www.hemmerle.com
